Protein Is Essential to Lose
Fat
When dieting, if the body is deprived
of protein, it will turn in on itself to
supplement the protein loss and what
actually happens is that whilst you lose
weight in terms of the scales, you are not
losing fat but you are losing muscle. Yes,
you will be slimmer - and weaker and
smaller and lighter but with virtually the
same amount of body fat as when you
started your diet.

Protein is the main structural
nutrient in your body, making up the bulk
of your muscles and organs and is
essential for the proper functioning of
the hormone and immune systems.
It is an extremely important nutrient
whether your plan is to lose fat or gain
muscle; it is used for building and
repairing muscle tissue and any diet you
embark on must not include a reduction in
protein.
When dieting to lose excess fat we
reduce our calorie intake. Our body
believes its fat stores are more precious
than the muscle tissue and will tend to
eat up muscle tissue before it looks to
the fat for energy. This natural body
process is simply explained - it protected
our ancestors in times of drought and
famine, but in the modern day it works
against us.
