Crash dieting may also put your health
at grave risk. For example, you may end up
not getting the vitamins and minerals that
you need on a regular basis, if you
deprive yourself of food. In addition,
when you attempt crash dieting, you would
use up your body's natural glycogen. After
this, your body will start to lose weight
from your tissues, because your body will
need some form of energy to function. Your
body will also start to use up the
proteins from your body, in addition to
the fat, and this can become
dangerous.
Remember that when you go crash
dieting, your body is being starved of
food. When this happens, your body will
respond automatically by storing, yes,
storing the fat that it has available, by
conserving the meager calories that it is
getting. Therefore, your metabolism slows
down, in order to preserve energy.

Your body can function on a lower
rate of metabolism for a number of months
too. To change that you need to introduce
exercise into your crash dieting program
and this will force your body to use that
stored fat.
When you feel after your crash dieting
that you have lost enough weight and start
to eat normally again, your body would
need time to adjust, and in the meantime,
what it does is this: it continues to
store calories and fat and energy (in case
it is forced to go without these if you
embark on another crash dieting program),
and when you are eating more than you did
during your crash diet, the body stores
the extra fat that it is getting now, and
the result is that you would put on all
the weight that you had lost during your
starvation phase.

The emotional impact that a crash diet
would have on you must also be analyzed.
When you attempt crash dieting, and
succeed in losing weight, and then put it
on almost immediately, you often feel a
complete loss of self esteem, and the
sense of accomplishment that you would
have enjoyed disappears completely,
leaving in its place feelings of anger and
resentment. What may be the worst impact
of crash dieting is that you may feel so
depressed about your weight gain that you
will attempt bingeing, to make up for the
period of near starvation that you put
yourself through. This would have a yo-yo
effect on you, and you will simply put on
all the weight that you had lost.
In summary, never attempt such
restrictive crash dieting plans, but
instead, follow a healthy exercise program
combined with a healthy eating lifestyle.
Stay fit and stay healthy too.
