Diet Tip
The word 'diet' may conjure up images
of deprivation and of mind and body
bending exercises, and of that piece of
chocolate that you want to eat, but cannot
because you are on a diet!
However, do not lose heart, because
these are all normal symptoms of being on
a diet and food cravings are a part and
parcel of it.

In much the same way that you could
get addicted to smoking, for example, your
body can get addicted to food, and when
this happens, your body gets busy sending
out messages that it is not happy with
what it is getting and this makes you
depressed and unhappy about the diet.
Believe me, this will happen to
everyone who wants to lose weight and you
just have to accept it for some time, and
very soon, you will start losing your
excess weight.
Once you see some actual weight loss
all feelings of deprivation will go
because the self-confidence that will come
with a slimmer you gives you the incentive
to lose even more weight.
The first and most important diet
tip is this: have available at all
times lots of iced water, and
before you put a single piece of food into
your mouth drink a glass of that iced
water. It will have three beneficial
effects:
- it will act as an appetitite
suppressant
- it will fill up some of that empty
space in your stomach
- it will ensure you remain hydrated
at all times, a very important aspect
of dieting that many people
overlook.
Your body gets liquids from the foods
you eat, and if you are limiting your food
intake (that is, dietiing) then there is
less liquid for your body, so you need to
supplement it with water - but make it
iced water! A great diet tip !
Remember, there is no single perfect
plan for a successful diet; however, you
can follow time tested diet tip that are
recommended by experts. To begin, try to
include foods from all the food groups in
your diet, such as vegetables, meat, fats
dairy products and fruit. Also include
those carbohydrates that have a low value
on the glycemic index, a system that rates
the carbohydrate quality in foods
according to the immediate effect that
they have on the blood sugar glucose
levels in the body.

Those foods that break down quickly
into glucose after consumption are termed
as foods with a 'high GI value', while
those that break down more slowly are
termed as foods with 'low GI value'.
If you include those foods that have a
lower GI value, then you will successfully
cut down your food cravings and also keep
hunger at bay over longer periods of
time.
